CROSSROADS FIFE CENTRALWelcome to our organisationAbout Crossroads Fife CentralCrossroads is an organisation whose aim is to help relieve stress on those who care for people of any age with all disabilities. We do this by enabling Carers to take a break. We give short breaks to Carers at regular intervals at a time that suits them. Whether the person you care for is a child, young adult or an older person, Crossroads may be able to help you. ________________________________________________ HOW DOES IT WORK? Crossroads can arrange for a Care Attendant to look after your relative/friend for a few hours. Usually the Care Attendant comes to the home of the person being cared for (the Service User). They can offer personal care, companionship, take the client on an outing. The service can be available any day, including weekends. Ours is a flexible service and families either have Crossroads on a regular basis or occassionally for a special event. ________________________________________________ WHO ARE OUR CARE ATTENDANTS? They are employees of Crossroads Fife Central who have been trained to a high standard to give a flexible and reliable service including assistance with toileting, moving and handling, giving medicines, etc. Our staff will do what you, the Carer, would do, provided appropriate instructions and equipment is available. ________________________________________________ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? When you contact us we will ask you a little about yourself. We will arrange a suitable time to visit you at home to assess your needs. It is not always necessary to meet the Service User at this point as it is you, the carer, whose needs we will be talking about. If Crossroads is able to offer help, you will be asked to suggest suitable days and times to have a service. Every effort will be made to meet your request, if resources are available. Unfortunately there is a waiting list. Following discussion of the care needs of the Service User, a Care Attendant will be chosen to help you and you will meet her before the service starts. You will be asked to demonstrate any equipment used by the Service User and to explain how you want your relative/friend to be cared for. The frequency of visits will also be agreed. The service will be reviewed at agreed intervals. However, if you have any concerns about the staff or the service, you are encouraged to contact the Manager or Co-ordinator. The Scheme also operates a Comments and Complaints procedure. The Board of Management reserve the right, in some circumstances, to discontinue the service. ________________________________________________ WHAT DOES IT COST? Although our staff are paid, the service is currently free to you, the Carer. Our voluntary Board of Management secures funding from Fife Council and NHS Fife. In addition, grants and donations from a variety of sources help to increase our available finds. WHERE ARE WE? CROSSROADS FIFE CENTRAL 3 SCOTT ROAD GLENROTHES KY6 1AB Tel.
